How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Like The Irish

St. Patrick’s Day has now become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing and special foods. It is held on March 17th every year. Here are some ideas on how to celebrate St. Patty’s Day just like the Irish.

1| Got to get the green!

There are many variations on the “green theme”.

i.)   How about the all green t-shirt with the optional Irish saying, or beer image or Guinness logo?

ii.)  Or go full out with a leprechaun costume, complete with white stockings, green top hat and red beard fake or real, it’s totally up to you.

iii.) For those of you working on March 17th then a hint of green in your shirt/blouse/dress, socks or tie is totally acceptable. If you want to be a bit more bold wear a tie, scarf or socks bearing the shamrock pattern or the Irish flag.

2| Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!

From wearing buttons with cool Irish sayings, have shamrocks painted or temporarily tattooed to your cheeks, to dying your hair green or painting your face the colours of the Irish flag, these are all popular ways persons get into the spirit of the day.

3| Eat like the Irish!

Whether it is potluck at the office, or a St. Patrick’s Day party with family and friends, you’ve got to have Irish food and drink. We’ve found a treasure trove of authentic, and some not so authentic, Irish recipes on Pinterest that you can try.

4| Pubs, bars and even restaurants love St. Paddy’s Day!

Many of your local pubs and bars are opened from very early in the morning, to very late at night, to make sure you are in the right “spirit” of the day.

5| Attend a local parade

If there is a St. Patrick’s Day parade happening near you participate in it, or at the very least, attend. You’re sure to feel just like the Irish when they celebrate the day.

How will you be celebrating this year? We would love to hear. Let us know in the comments section below.
